Long time, no sew.

Not much sewing going on at my house.
Aaron is only home for 2 more days. Its been so nice having him home for these two weeks. 
His piles of stuff, not so much. 
I wonder how he fit all of it in his dorm room????


I did take a pile of scraps to work yesterday.
I cut them into 2-1/2 inch strips or 5 inch charm squares. 
They will go into my someday I will make something out of this stuff pile

I made some coasters for Aaron. Since I bought him some end tables (and a recliner and a bed), he can keep them nice.  I also made some for Allison, but hers are still upstairs and I am too lazy to get them.  I just used some charm squares.

No sewing for me this weekend. 


Aaron graduated from Luther College. He has a double major in Computer Science and Scandinavian Studies with a minor in International Studies.  He starts his new job on June 4, so will be moving to Eau Claire in a few weeks.
We are so proud of him.!

Even more amazing -  we had 15 loads of gravel delivered today. And he didn't get run over.

I used some pastel scraps for the front. Part of a flannel remnant I got at walmart ( a 1/3 yard for 32 cents. I figured I used 8 cents worth, lol) for the back. I stitched them right sides together with a scrap piece of flannel for the batting and top stitched around the edge.

Weekend project

I made this little stroller blanket over the weekend.

The pirate fabric is from Michael Miller, blues are Amelia / Me and My Sister
boarder is Anthology
backing is Jungle Baby Stripes by Kate Hornarvar.

I cheated on the binding, just left the backing a little big and folding it over the front and machine stitched :)

I used to make these for Allison's babies when she was little. 
These I made for a co-worker's daughter who is 3 :)

I used some flannel from my stash and some velcro.

Bad Blogger

I have been a bad blogger 
and a bad picture taker.


But I have been busy.
I made a 
* crib skirt and valance for my great-nephew, who will be arriving in August. I think it turned out pretty cute, considering I had no idea what I was doing with the crib skirt! 
* a stroller quilt out of some adorable Michael Miller pirate fabric. I just have to finish the dreaded binding. 
* doll diapers for the three year old daughter of a co-worker. 
* working on a crocheted market tote. Using this pattern, but mine is hot pink, orange and teal.

Fear

I posted this picture before.
Some reds, blacks, and whites that will someday become a quilt for my great niece.
Am waiting on a couple more prints to arrive.

Not sure what I want to do with them yet.
Simple patchworks always seem to be what I am drawn to -
my pinterest board is full of them.

I don't like cutting.
Maybe I have some weird love for big ole chunks of prettiness?
Fear of screwing up? Or just changing my mind? My frugal nature?
Worries I won't like the finished project?
I am definitely over thinking it.


I am the same way with 12 x 12 sheets of paper.
(oh this would be good on a card, but I never actually cut into it!)
